The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance exam for aspirants of undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law courses offered at National Law Universities and other colleges.
What is CLAT Exam?
Common-Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a centralized offline entrance test. It is the first step towards getting into the LAW admission to 19 National Law Universities, more than 50 other educational institutes and 2 public sector institutes.
Based on CLAT scores, admissions are offered to various law programs such as BA LLB, B.Sc LLB, BBA LLB, B.Com LLB, and BSW LLB.

The journey started way back in 2008 and today 55000+ students appear for this entrance exam to get admission to 22 law universities of India that include National Law University including NLSIU Bangalore-the Harvard of the East.
The entry to these colleges are based on the CLAT scorecard.
CLAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria
CLAT 2021 Eligibility for five-year Integrated courses
- Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination.
- Candidates must have secured 45% marks in case of candidates belonging to General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories.
- Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories must have secured 40% marks to fill the exam.
- Candidates can apply for CLAT 2021 irrespective of their age since the age limit criteria have been removed by BCI.
- Candidates who are appearing for the qualifying exam in March/April 2021 can also fill CLAT 2021 test. Such candidates will have to produce evidence of passing the qualifying exam at the time of admission.
CLAT Eligibility for LLM Course
- Candidates belonging to General/Other Backward Class (OBC)/Specially Abled categories should have completed their graduation with at least 55% marks. Candidates must have secured at least 50% marks in case they belong to Scheduled Class (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories.
- Candidates who are into the final year of their college degree can also apply for CLAT 2021. However, they will have to submit proof of passing the graduation and qualification at the time of admission.
- There is no upper age limit to apply for the CLAT 2021exam.
